Residential Services
We offer two types of Residential Services:
Community Based Homes
Kerr continues to expand residential services. We now operate 28 (two, three, or five-person) homes in Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, Marion, and Lane counties. All of the homes focus on providing an atmosphere that reflects the preferences of the people who live there. Each person has their own bedroom, and staff assists people to decorate their rooms to reflect their personalities and interests. All of the homes are constructed to meet the needs of the people who live there. This includes wheelchair accessibility, specialized showers/tubs/equipment, and more. The staffing ratio at each home are based on the needs of the people who live there.
All of our homes focus on assisting people to be independent and to gain increased choice and control over their lives. All activities in the home are driven by the desires and preferences of the people who live there. This includes choices on menus, personal care, social/recreational activities, etc. Everyone who lives at the home has an equal say in areas that affect the entire home.
Supported Living
Kerr's Supoorted Living Program offers people completely individualized services based on personal preferences and needs. The person chooses where, and whith whom (if anyone) they would like to live, and a support system is built around the specific needs of that person.
As this service is so individualized, it is impossible to give an account of a "typical" support system provided by this service. For example, a person may choose to rent their own apartment and live alone or share an apartment with a roommate.
Supported Living Services are based on a person's desires for this type of service. People expressing the desire to move in this direction are assessed as their level of independence both cognitively and physcially, in all areas of daily living. Working closely with the person requesting services, their County Service Coordinator, and their family/advocates, Kerr develops an Individualized Support Plan containing the following components:
- Safety Support Plan
- Medical Support Plan
- Nutritional Support Plan
- Financial Support Plan
- Behavioral Support Plan
- Social Support Plan
All plans are based on the support needs identified by the assessment with input from all team members.
Supported Living offers the highest level of individualized service, choice, and control for the people we support. Many people enjoy living "on their own" with the support of qualified staff. For some, it is the first time in their lives that they enjoy the basic lifestyle freedoms which most of us take for granted
